Our objective at LIFF is to recognize and support new filmmakers and screenwriters.

The 2008 festival will host a revamped screenplay competition with several new categories.

Submissions are scored on character development, story, dialogue, structure and originality. New in 2008, we will recognize semi-finalists in the following genre-specific categories: Micro-Budget, No-Budget, Sci Fi/Horror and UK screenplay.

An increasingly popular aspect of the competition is that writers are offered feedback on their submissions. This way writers who aren't officially recognized can still receive input on their work.
